went to Dargents today
on the first through Coast-
train. We went up
the Treasure Creek canyon.
saw a Melanerpes torquatus-
near Dargents lounge. Also
an Apilebecoma californica.
We went as far as the
first line of oaks looking
for the former small
colonies of magpies, but
beyond a few battered
trees no trace of
the birds could be
found. Bird life of all
kinds seemed unusually
scarce. Returning we
found a Ww Redtails
