M. linearis M. Hayi - (1) Coquimbo, Chile, July-Aug, 1856, W.H. Harvey labeled M. linearis var. petals white, spatulate; stigmas winged, valve swollen and with small scales off the rounded portion. (2) "M. linearis DC. propè Coquimbo, Chile H. Cuming 889, 1831. 1-2 dm. high, glabrous, leaves linear, stigmas winged, orbicular, ca. 4 mm. in diam., rifl. congested, petals spatulate, 3-5 mm. long (3) "M. gajii Ph. = M. chilensis var. aptera. Sevema". printed label as fl. "Herb. Ball. plantas chilenas - comm. R.A. Philippi, Northern Chile'. similar to the above. M. orbiculata: Johnston 5048 & 5515 Wester Werdenmuss 391 Atacama, Chile, no date, C. Porter M. paniculiflora Johnston 5697, 5773 M. paucula Ph "Chili, Huasco" comm. R.A. Philippi, 2/1888 This specimen appears to be the same as those listed under M. Hayi.
