9 NOVEMBER 64
The equipment was set up at 0830 hrs. on the Hils side and was attended thereafter until 1700 hrs when the slip changed from the down-leg course to the cross leg.
One-half hour was taken out for the noon meal.
For the time spent and the reasonable shooting conditions the quantity of birds was small and a very few footages were shot. A goodly portion of a flock of Sheamsters & petrels (together) were photographed and some 20 feet of a Red-tailed Tropicbird.
It is most discouraging to spend so long a time and have so few subjects.
One one heavy roll P. Dumont caught the camera as it was about to smack upon the side - causing a slight strain on trip leads.
The 400 ft. film chamber (reel ?) was attached to the camera providing a greater length of film able to be shot at one time. It is an advantage as invariably when a long sequence is possible the 100 ft rolls run out.
