4 November 64 Equipment was set-up at 0800 hours. Weather cloudy & sea rough. At 0930 word was received again of salt-water wash-down so equipment was secured in cases. Before all of it could be got under cover the water system was turned on, wetting tripod, lenses and cases and one ANGRY cameraman. Thorough cleaning was necessary to guard against corrosion of equipment. Photographic operations ceased (initial) at 0930 and were resumed at 1230 hours. For the total day ca. 250' of film was shot on the flocks (and individuals) of Sooty Shearwaters passing through the area. One sequence was made of feeding Sooty Shearwaters. One rain squall hampered operations for nearly an hour however it is felt that some good footage was secured despite several interruptions.
