3 November 64 Equipment was erected on the Milo-deck at 0800 hours in cloudy weather. The seas are high with & spraying white-caps and causing ca. 10° rolls. A short rain squall necessitated securing equipment for a short (15min) while only once in the early morning. Light conditions varied frequently and many clouds caused much glare & reflection on the water. The remaining footage on Reel #1 was shot. Upon opening the camera to change film the latter 30-50 feet of that reel was found to be g jammed and was therefore lost. Reel #2 was started. closeness of birds to the ship and scarcity of birds indicate that few birds will be recorded. Also finding a flying bird in a 1/2 x, 16 MM field from a rolling ship is extremely difficult--especially if the bird is small and fast- flying.
