"Report of Photographic Proceedings
At Sea - November 1964"

Upon learning that [illegible] films
at sea motion photographs of the
birds at sea were desired,
the rental of 16 mm motion
equipment was investigated
from several local (Hawaiian)
photographic establishments.
Equipment suiting our needs
was finally found to be
available from Mr. Bud Theunes
of Pacific Camera (Pacific Films
Corporation) and could be rented
as we desired.
A trial of equipment and period
of acquaintance with the equipment
was made from the Kanohe
Marine Air Station, Wailuku, Maui.
Four hundred feet of black & white
film were shot on the sea
birds frequenting that area and
sent to the Museum for app-
roval (see preliminary photographic
report #2 and/or Test Films).
The report being favorable to
attempt motion photography from a
ship at sea, all needed available
necessary equipment was procured.
Immediately upon leaving the
Harbor the equipment was positioned
forward on the ship in the
first available vantage point for
