Race Pt
July 6.
In the core west of Race Point
gabbro outcrops continuous along
the southeast and east shores and
in the hillback on the land. The
northeast point of the Core is com-
posed (porphyritic gneiss)
abyolite trapp only rarely contain-
s a few fragments. These form
the North Shore of Race Point
excepting the east corner where
gabbro again comes to the shore.
There is also a dike of gabbro near
the East corner, the dike trending
N. 20° E. The east shore of the Point
is composed of the same massive
porphyritic and trapp as on the west
shore. A thick mass of gabbro
interrupts this series. North of this
gabbro area which is in S. W.
5° 34.4' to the stubby dip shore
in some of the porphyritic trapp,
the strike varies from N. 13° W. to
N. 20° W., dip 33° - 36° E. respect-
sively.
Of the two little points on the
south side of Race Point, the east
one is composed of gabbro with a
shooting of porphyritic
the east shore and a bit of addituff
at the S.W. corner
