NON-GRID MAMMALS No marine mammals were seen inside the Channel Islands, and none were seen on the north portion of the non-grid cruise. On the south portion most sightings were of seals(10), four of which were thought to be California Sea Lions. In addition, five Dall Porpoise, two unidentified porpoise, a single Sperm Whale, and a Hubb's Beaked Whale were seen. The latter was well viewed at thirty to fifty feet from the ship. A description and notes were included on the log sheet. No other marine mammals were seen on the non-grid cruise.
