Douglas Fir cones Those that I collected, though rather, fresh, seem to already have shed most of their seeds. Some were collected, however. Of four cones, the number of scales each had was 40,38,36, and 32; thus the total maximum number of seeds any could have would be 40×2(seeds/scale)=80. The seeds were very small, and will be weighed later.
