Mammals: The interesting form of Delphinus was again recorded in the grid area. Two attempts to collect this animal failed. Both animals were killed and subsequently lost in the time required for the larger ship to return to the area. Attempts with new methods will be used during future surveys ust collect this and other small cetacea. The presence of Blue Whales in the area is interesting. These animals are generally found near Baja in June, but none were seen in that area this past June by Dale Rice of Marine Mammal Laboratory, BCF, USF & WS. Since the animals failed to follow normal distributional patterns early in the summer, their presence here at this time may not be normal. Mammal observations are included as individual observations. Further work will be done with these data at a later date.
