These observations are as reliable as possible without specimens for substantiation, and represent one of the first pelagic records of this species for the area. Surfbird Number recorded: 19 On 8 August at 35°00' - 122°09'叫 a flock of 19 birds approached the ship from the northeast, crossed the bow, and continued flying southwest. The identification is considered positive. Jaegers Pomarine Jaeger - number recorded: 4 Long-tailed Jaeger : 1 Jaeger sp. : 9 Jaegers were recorded in 8 of the 9 sectors. Six of the 14 birds recorded were in the western third of the grid. No parasitic behavior was observed; the question arises: are they preying on either of the abundant species (phalaropes or storm petrels)? Sterna sp. Number recorded: 3 The specific identification of these birds remains a question. Alcids sp. Xantus Murrelet - number recorded: 17 The specific identification of these birds is not definite. Only one was definitely identified as this species; the others with a re- liability of 2 (this or the next most similar species - Cassin Auklet).
