Eastern Area Cruise 15 was conducted by Brian Harrington aboard the
USS BRADLEY (DE 1041) from 5-9 June, 1967. Daylight observations were
conducted whenever possible, however were restricted on occasion due to
operations of the ship which prohibited personnel from being on the
weather-decks. A total of 33.8 hours of observation were conducted over
490 linear miles. A daily summary may be found in TABLE 1.

* Due to irregular courses and speeds these mileage records should be considered

During this survey the Smithsonian observer was present on the ship
on a not-to-interfere basis. Thus the areas surveyed were determined by
the objectives of other programs and did not include any areas encompassed
by the Eastern Grid. Instead, all operations were within sight of the
Channel Islands, and are not considered to be of aid in determining the
