the whole place seemed
lacking in timber. Of
course it is high up so
we would expect more trees.
In the afternoon while
out with the gun I saw
a Falcon swoop at a
Chicheree. I could plainly
see the rush of wings
but by the time I shot
the bird he was far off.
I fired but didn't hit
him hard enough. He
was the size of a duck
and howl but was
very light, appearing
white against the sky.
I would call him a
Prairie Falcon. Later I
saw a Spoonbill on a
small lake in the
woods. It was rather
