Took Kahili bus to Bishop Museum. Looked up Librarian
MARGARET TITCOMB (63). Took to lunch, Met Director, Dr.
SPOEHR; also 2 entomologists (1 Far). Dr. Gresset away
Looked around Museum. Models of H. Fruit. 2 MTD Skeletons
MESOPLodon GREYI + HAARTI (post card to T.C.M.), Old surf
boards. Had dinner at a "Teahouse + Lily Pond Restaurant"
Delicious Curried Shrimp. Jack + Mrs. Kay + Lucius Eldrege,
(& 10: check). Visited "To" at Hospital. Toon battery beater.
Visited Ala Moana Super Store. Bought wood bases for K,
Rain + Sun
16 TUESDAY 48-317 HONOLULU TO SAN FRANCISCO
Plane late. Car picked me up at Y at 11:PM. Did not take off
until 1:PM, 2N A.M. I went to Waitiki and visited a
Beach Hotel, The H.
Everything hammed. No beach
No waves. Flew at 33000 Ft. Saw other islands in chain.
Arr. S.F. after dark. Staying at King George Hotel. Called
Tim + Gretchen Reed, (&5 check - Qantas) Honolulu,
17 WEDNESDAY 49-316 SAN FRANCISCO
Called on Tim R. at Bank of America. Cashed $200 check. Bought
Hat. Tim took me to lunch at club. Bus to Univ. Cal.
Berkeley. Visited Life Sciences Bldg. Saw Bill Libdicker,
Dr. Stebbins, Dr. A. Miller, Jim Anderson (Tall-Grad stu-
dent-Urner Club). Phoned Dr. Stirton. Caught ride into S.F.
Home with Tim for dinner. Son Tim Jr. 1st yr. Lawrenceville.
Son Charles (10) interested in Nat. Hist. Daughter Laura house
about 16 (jr. at H.S.) Turkish girl staying with them. Lovely
Evening. Home midnight by bus. Wood-paneled home-all
on 1 floor.
