Wednesday August 20 To Mary Lake Started early and came about 15 miles Camping at Sanger (Mary) Lake. Saw augus Quarry rats at creek Creek Downs -3 mile Before camping Barometer at highest point read 760 feet. Ducked shot a black bear at night camp Thursday August 21 To Fool's Lake Made a rather late start and went to Fool's Lake about 3 o'clock. Turned across and made camp on dust side Friday August 22 Jackla Lake Started about 9.30 in August Canal for head of Cube Lake and an Indian boy taking the horses by the trail. Had lunch at old crossing where Daniel Jagger hara house and used to operate the ferry. Carried a creek just below, which is said by lake to lead into a lake which outlet, also to the Omneear. Head Coyote at noon Saturday Aug 23 Biddleley House Fork specimens and made up all to date. The name of Biddleley House start just above and camp at the mouth of a small creek. Signs of Bears and Mountain goat in Marsh at head of Lake. A good many geese are about and they are said by the Indian to nest and dribbler do. Some ducks also. The mountains opposite are said to be inhabited by many mountain goats and some prongh deer. There are said to have practically exterminated the hairy mammoth
