About a Thousand or 1200 wintered in the Hoback Basin at one or Canyon. There was practically no live stock from starvation. A few cows killed to relieve was a good proportion of Calves. Many also went out of Granite & Horse Creeks and then go to the Hoback Basin to winter. Then some killing for meat was not done in Kingston. There was mostly in the ranges which are in the basin to the north. Saw cattle winter on cliff with range in south. Been one or two of a second kind herd there Cattle reach to the north of Hoback Canyon A good man Thurlow come in fair As ran at parts of the state and prowled Mr. Red is a game warden in the Hoback Basin. Is a part of the Gros Ventre Reserve is under Federal control
