Diary, 1907, of trip to West Virginia

1907 West Virginia Trip to West Virginia Springs West VA. The Biological Survey was requested to make the trip by President Theodore Roosevelt, to investigate a report that a flock of passenger pigeons had been seen in the fall by several persons. Everyone whose name was involved, as who could be found was interviewed and a report was sent to the White House.

Dec. 1907 Miss Rose Lewin Daily Republican Grafton Mrs Lloyd Wright Webster. Robert Dennis Supt. Webster Post Miss. rec'd letter from A.A. Emr Jackson, Tarkilzze, Leo Jackson Miss. About a dozen letters man rec'd by this Postmaster at Weber or called Pigeon Letters. Dec 4. 1907 W.D. Brim. Pam. Webster W.Va Used to know the weed Pigeons, but has not seen any for 30 or 35 years. Mrs has heard of any. J.P. Louran a stonecutter at Webster was away hunting but I talked with his daughter and she said that she had spoken to her father about the pigeons, or hearing about this letter and he said that he had not heard of any being seen.
