To 10 miles from Neuer. Wednesday Aug 24 Left camp about 7 A.M. and reached Hamilton about 11. then crossed to the left bank. Kept up on this side all day. Day Cloudy but with little wind. Encamped at night in beautiful woods. Spruce, ferns, [illegible] Thursday Aug 25. To near Pelican Rapids. Day clear & warm. Kept on up the river all day. Crossed to the right bank early in the fore- noon and kept on that side all day. Friday Aug 26. A fine day. Kept up on same side until after 3 P.M. Pelican Rapids crossed on the left bank and soon reached Pelican Portage. Then stopped at the Midnight Sun, a stern wheel steam owned by Words at Cornwall. This. The words first took both found, got some mail. Some of the passengers left on the steam which left about 5 o'clock. There was little to attend to but they concluded to encamp here. Took some photos.
