July 26. Cast array at 8:45 and continued on toward Simpson. The day was fine In the PM observed 3 minnows below, [illegible], but failed to keep any in pannier. Mayes [illegible] The Eve at Sachem about 20 miles Below Fort Simpson. Reached Fort Simpson at 11. P.M. July 27. Remained at Fort Simpson all day and some [illegible] [illegible] specimens [illegible], an [illegible] in the morning July 28. I left Fort Simpson at 4:15 and started for Fort Providence. The banks are high as at Fort Simpson. Passed Spence River 7:30 P.M. and at 7 P.M. had probed the bend of the river from with the current. Stopped and we could make better time. July 29. Reached Fort Providence at 8:50 A.M. Obtained a piece of Eden Rock from Mr. Hodgson. Fort Providence is pleasantly situated on the left right bank of the river, after a short stop we went my [illegible] and [illegible] other on the bank [illegible].
