Monday June 29 The wind rose in the night and I kept up all day and m could not more was up in good time and discovered a number of bunnies of ground squirrels along the clay banks. Snaught a pair of adults and two young ones by shooting and trapping. They burrow all along below high water mark but then rattle Lares are high up on the clay banks. They run about 1/2 grown I saw also a number of rabbits which were very numerous and skinned there. Left at 9 PM and Traveled into the night Tuesday June 28 Traveled until 6 AM and then put ashore to sleep a little. Wk again at 12 as Traveled night. Baw northly high Clay. Saw 3 more a cow and calf which starts 4 soon in the river. I secured Snap shots of them. Drove the calf ashore and caught it by hand. A few miles below saw a loagbeall on an island.
