May 6. Having fallen some of our
franciscans in kindness, as much
as our dried & camp in our camps,
or left at about 10 o'clock and paddled
down stream with a strong hand
much until dark. Our canoe
travelled quite badly at first
and was much too heavily loaded
but we made only 20 miles
and camped at dusk on the
left bank
May 17. Left early a froodible
and continued on down this
river. The road still continued
unfavorable and we could
make but short time in passed
swift current rapids shortly
before night and camped about
four miles below on the right
bank 60 miles below Athabasca
Land
May 8. Left early and planted
down the river. On reached
the Gasville some time before
dark and learned that the
Mennonite's had left the
night before having stayed than
all day. We ran the upper portion
of the Pelican Rapids, after
being much difficulty and
camped on the left bank.
Tuesday
May 19. It commenced to snow before
on left camp and we ran
the next part of the river
having to carry a small portion
of our baggage to lighten
the canoe. We must passed
through another small rapids
at about noon stopped on the
right bank for dinner. It was
more snowing or heavily, that we
were obliged to camp as accordingly
remained until about 3 in the afternoon
when we continued on down the river
