133 Thurs, Dec. 4 I was awake during the night and was up early. The blaplein and I packed a few things and at 7.30 we started with Lamah as guide and three other Duncans for Lobang barr. We very soon duffield down to the river bed and followed up the streams for a long time, feeding the river many times, usually by jumping from rock to rock and found it pretty strenuous; for the sole loose from my shoe and we tied it up with a string, collected a few ferns along the river. After we left the river I found the growth much more interesting and we had some very steep climbing and at 1.30 we reached Lobang Rock, a gigantic thing which offers good shelter. We built a fire and had our lunch of rice and bacon. It rained all the afternoon and I dried the clothes. At about dark we had our dinner of rice and sardines. We fixed up our blanket roll and scrub to bed near after both under the same blankets.
