Ship Vincennes Rio de Janerio Sir, I have requested the Honorable Secretary of the Navy to direct the Navy Agent at Philadelphia to deliver you the following by me, the latter, marked "Seeds & Plants No. 5. Euphrates Expedition" which contains the following seeds & plants collected by our Botanists, viz. 43 Papers of seeds from the Island of Madeira 17 " " from the vicinity of Rio de Janerio 53 " " Also dry roots of Pannenias, Anacardis, Cattley, or Her- beta, Begeria, Specimens from the Ogoa Mountains, of Brazilian Cactus, &c. Vanilla Aromatica 2c. 24— On occasion while I trust it will afford you pleasure to make the best possible use of, by cultiva- tion, i.e., with a view of introducing them into our own Gardening.
