Page 7 -continued- California Condor Eben McMillan 6 February 1963 Eagles - branch of Hopper Canyon on road to Percy Ranch. Three adult Golden Eagle were dashing about, in the air, above high rock outcrops on right side of Canyon 1/2 mile from the main Canyon. These Eagles were doing the habitual Undulating flight where they To a stalling Point where the wings are closed and the bird tips over and dives downward for some 100 yards or so before righting it and continue normal flight. We arrived at the Percy Ranch at 2:30 p.m. after passing through areas of open range that was badly over-grazed. While waiting for Mr. Percy to arrive we watched Two Condor Circling above his Ranchouse, that is situated about 3/4 of a mile southeast of Hopper Mountain and is at about elevation. Mr. Percy came from town in his Jeep at 3:00 p.m. Soon after his coming he took us to the top of Hopper Mt. in his Jeep. We saw the Carcasses of 3 dead Cattle two of which he said Condor had fed on and one of which he had seen 8 Condor feeding on, two of which were young. High thin clouds were present throughout the day while the temperature remained quite warm even late in the evening, a fairly cool East wind was blowing when we topped Hopper Mt. at about 4:00 p.m., but this was not the case at lower levels. We stayed overnight at Percy Ranch spending the evening discussing Condor history and present habits with Mr. Percy. Food - E + 2m Condor -
