Aug 5th To north end to spend night for petrels. Went to near north side Island found goats along cliffs eat hard lichens in some places Redtail & Buchnera beyond pines, ferns growing on several pines & got a bunch in north side cliff at top where goats can't reach. Summit juniper rockworm with helictus communis. Thumars passed Spring while I was drinking 10 crossbills heard seen day a lot of wet petrels, but found none. At night lit fire for an hour 1/2, but now later about only heard 4 or 5 in air. Clear starlit night perhaps a probably accounts had it been fizzy would be different perhaps
