Bratley, D. A. 1964 Sand Island, Johnston Is. Atoll (Notes) Mon. June 22 Sand Is. - Wedge-Tailed Shearwater - Nests were marked on the island for a beginning in an incubation study. Ten nests were marked & since the egg laying date was unknown, all nests & eggs from 1 to 10 were given an X marking. Thereafter, there will be daily checks for new eggs. All birds incubating were marked with red paint on the breast, head, & tail & the band numbers read. The egg was probably laid around 6-15-64 as this was the first day it was seen in the hole. Another bird, which we banded
