101. Habenaria fastida, (Platanthera, Gey.Mss.) undescribed, but exactly Geyer's plant in Herb. Gray.- 524 Geyer and Elyott; Cared wh. 189 + Wab Kostney 1161.- 6-14' high - leaves 2-4, oblong to ovate lanceolate 3-7" long ; flowers in axillary clumps, densely flowered (1-1/2" by) (1-1/4" by) ; bracts orbicular, shorter than the ovary; sepals oblong-obovate, (1-3/4" long); petals + lip somewhat fleshy, the former emblanched white, the latter Mag. white; spur (1-1/2" long) shorter than the ovary. H. elegans differs in its much denser spike & longer filiform spur. July 14, 1869, CoToward Cana - under aspens 6,000 ft 1%. July 24, " Prairie N.S., g.Palo Alto Park - " pine woods amid. (Gwygr.) 10". Aug. 2, " Bridge down camp in Bear R. Cana - quivugr. 1". 101. H. hypoleuca, W.Bor. - with smaller flowers than any of the allied species, more or less greenish, the upper petalinae apex somewhat acute, broadly ovate (1 1/2" x 2-1/4") The lateral sepals emblanched longer & narrower (2-2 1/2" x 3/4-1") - petals (1 1/8-2" x 1/2-3/4") - lip generally but slightly broader towards the base (2-3" x 1") - with t. glandul., th. anthic. Bichos spur 2-3" long.- N. Sherm + Canada & the Coast ; + Oregon, + North Understrata in the Rocky Mtn to Colorado & California ? 1-3" high - spurs usually rather loosely flowered, 4-1 1/4" long. July 24, 1869, Ruby Valley - stream bank 6,000 2 1/4. Aug. 1, " " Can Creek bank " 3 1/4. July 25, 1869, Win Kells - Pinto Canine - 6,000 ft. 6 1/4.
