8. G. detonata, Friss. - Ash has been indicated by Euphrasia & Gray. G. ericifolia
Gifford but in its broader basal leaves and the two species are very
early flowering. This name is the old one. 6-15' high. Simple
or branched from base.

9. G. frigidia, Hawke. B. alpina, Griseb. - White flowers, undeveloped, but evidently the
same as 305 Perry from The Rocky Mts. of Colorado.

10. G. affinis; Dum. See No. 74.
Stem 1-flowered, or the axillary one often
in long peduncles, but the peduncles are often several-flowered and much reduced
in length or the flowers are nearly sessile. Calyx lobes very small or none, rarely
slightly enlarging the lower edge of the tube. Flowers varying in size (10"-2"). Stipules
concave or twisted or diverging. Corolla on a style about equally the calyx lobe, and is
variable, circular, + shaped to obly + nearly or quite wingless. Least height not very
larger than in my own species.
From the Red River & Saskatchewan south to Washington Territory, and southward into California.
