Geraniums. var.? 5. Geranium acuta, Mix. ? referred by Hooker & G. Amatulle, L. big (inferred) with specimens from Australia & Afghanistan, probably rightly; — This form is the same as G. darvishiana, of Nuttall's Mnt., from the head waters of the Snake, which has been included in G. Tennis's Griseb. It is very doubtful whether the two species are distinct, as the differences are but slight and inconsistent. — The present specimens are tall (1'6-2'), much branched or nearly simple, leaves linear-lanceolate, (1-1½' long) Distinct or sometimes crowded at base; flowers small and rather crowded; calyx 5-cleft, with unequal lobes, about equally the entire tube, sebrous margin; corolla 5-lobed, obtuse or rounded, head full, and glabrous at the base very indistinctive. a) Aug. 20, 1867. Calyx lobes sometimes in a pair, sometimes very acute. a) Aug. 29, 1867. E. Humboldt Mts. — Mountain side above lake 9,500 ft. 1 sp. b) July 31, 1869.
