a pile feathers from a lark
on wire fence. Got 3 squirrels &
K got 6 more going home also
a young road runner. Got 2
quail each @ home out of about
6 shots each x lost a hit g. 72
& black.-fried at together, at b. bids
9/23. Saw 2 kingfishers this morn/
coming toward my window. They
turned & went toward marsh.
9/26. Sargents. Got a fair male
spar. hawks. X (lark) (missed) 1.
Heard a kingf. in river & got down
to brink to get a sight when a
young crow lit. Got him on wing.
(this was all I saw on trip.) (Crop full of drab color)
Was too near on ground. Was
nearly dark, when about about
10 quail flew from his into thick
sycamore just out of range. If
I had shot into branches in 2 places
that I proposed to I would hear get
birds; as they flew from three shots.
Fired @ 1 on wing (prob. missed).
