Aug. 18 shot a jay from oak by man's house 47 in orchard wounded 14 missed several others, with Bill's rifle. Saw female Baborais' woodpicker tried to get a shot at her, but too shy. Saw her 2 weeks ago in orchard. Several Pardineri about. Saw a Kingfisher aug 20 that appeared to light by turkey roots, the notes attracted my attention. Was high up flying in slow, uniform strokes, that pulled the bird along very swiftly. A pair barn owls roosting N.E. cor. house on water pipe. Eng. Sparrows all seem to go into town about this season of year, infold. A few Ruesit-back. Thrushes here yet. W. Wood Pewers in usual numbers this year. Loto quail.
