Feb. 2. Fired sev. shots at larks
on apple trees plot, also lost 2 or 3
on wing got 4 on wing. 1 quail
poeted. Another field with brad that
escaped. Saw a sfs hawk fly
past me in orchard.
Feb. 10. Prepared a varied
Thrush in pine on shell road &
it a mystery how he got away
a quail further on that I saw
fall: probably recovered. Got
1 robin on plumm ave. Have
seen about 10 this week & 1 in Jan.
on ivy-covered stump by Edo's house
& 1 by Cantreville 1st week Oct.,
which makes all for the season,
so far, and, think will be very
few of mild weather. &
Feb. 14 heard varied Thrushes
singing in mables lot etc. A musical
chorus, much sweeter than their
usual crow & sounds like some tropical cage bird.
