1894. Gate, meandering up to Mr. Gave it #6 from right bbl set flopped off over, but rose with wind rflow N.E. 2d bbl @ long range had no effect. Sharrow's not near so numerous since ivy cut from oaks regas house & Rus- set backs are easier to find. 6/14 Shot a male Lazuli in creek that another on wire. Didn't get 1st one. Boys look in willows but if I had time I could find a nest in underbrush, as I saw- 3 males rno hns. Shot an old & young jay in orchard by gas house. 6/17 Whirlbr & I looked for Lazulis mentioned above. No luck. Caught 3 small quail from a brood let them go. 6/24 Saw some good sized young quail. Scared up a hare from thick grass back of cow shed in meadows. Could have hit him with a brick. 7/1 Plenty young quail about. Lazuli's now then. Counted 9 pair quail by my house 2 days ago. A kid found a Lazuli's nest by
