I had but 9 shells & saving for quail, was afraid to cross river alone at grind so got bk fr lunch. Lasts all ncr crr but I got 3 cott X 2 says Powers from wires also a grass finch or "meadow" sharrow along grass in truck. Lost him. Back in p.m. & crossed river with 22 shells X 8 shot 3rd powder to 1/3 shot. Saw 1 quail 1/4 mile bt dgot into riv. along track. Had to take a pot as he was slowly head- ing for fence. (Sat on a small clock & I pulled both triggers) after wthr & find I hd any empty gn. He flew wudd toward hills & struck a patch of high dread mu- tard. Looked 5 m. & dog found him dead. young male bird. after crossing riv. Asked Bags anchor 2 & time go thro corn & pumpkin - patch - & - orchards OK. Saw nothing. There's nothing Tho' in morn heard lot of calling
