to the ยง of the species and from the actions a pair of birds yesterday near the same place I think it must be a Horned Lark. I think I saw a Least Tern today flying near River. They usually first appear about this time. I saw about 6 Pipits this P.M. in the fields while I was plowing a single furrow, others at dif- ferent times during the day. Quite a large band of Gulls in the field today at one time, others individuals at different times. Several gg. Un's noticed. They were in an intermediate plumage that I have never noticed before. Several others seen closely the Calif species, as no doubt the majority were. April 28. Many House Finches ests being built, some con- taining eggs but the majority
