since the flood. Jan.22. The largest band of Killdeers I ever saw was seen today aimlessly flying about but moving in a general northerly direction. I do not know whether they are residents or migrating birds. There were nearly a thousand of them. June 19. About a week ago I saw my first band of Horned Larks that appeared to be foreigners. There were about 50. I have frequently noticed that this bird gathers into large bands during the early summer months but I do not know whether they are birds collected from the various scattering pairs that breed here or whether they are migrants. I saw the young Cliff Swallows that were hatched from the nest on my barn upon the roof.
