being dumped into the river Large numbers of Gulls were about. I think I recognized Hermann's among them. Two Gulls shot which were I think immature Cali. Gulls. A Least Tern was also shot. A great many Great Blue Herons were there, attracted no doubt by the dead fish. Turkey Vultures also quite numerous near fish. Sept-24. Went over to river mouth again. Fish nearly gone except skins and bones. A good many birds seen flying about at sea but no con- tinuous stream as is sometimes seen. At least one Gull was seen de- vorating remains of fish. Near- ly all of the Gulls seen were at "fish pile" and were exceedingly tame. A Gull was seen that belong
