At a Later Date. On a trip to the
Redwood after my households
goods which had been left
there.
In the "Three-mile Flat" I
noticed a queer thing. The
heat was intense and the
only birds seen were Horned
Larks of which there was a
considerable number.
The Sunset Telephone com-
panies' lines run through
here and the small narrow
shadows of the telephone poles
offered the only chance of
escape from the burning
crays of the sun, the country
for some distance being barren
of trees or other natural plant
life.
