27 Oct. 21. A great many birds were seen to- night on the road home from school. I have noticed on other rainy days besides today that the birds seem more than usually abundant. The only reason that I can give is that they hunt for their evening meal earlier on dark, rainy days than on bright days and accordingly gather in the open places along the trail to feed. The birds also seem to be less shy on rainy days. Nov. 6. Sometime before this date I saw my first California condor but the notes I made at that time were destroyed by accident. As I remember it, I was coming home from school one evening and was near the Dani place when I saw circling about several Turkey Vultures and in their company a larger bird at once distinguishable as the Condor. It soon discovered that we were watching and took its flight over a ridge in about as straight a line as it could make.
