Yes more notes were taken
during my residence at Wat-
sonville. The notes that follow
were from observations during
my residence at Castroville,
Monterey Co., near the old mouth
of the Salinas river, and elsewhere
Castroville, Cal..
Feb. 3-1896. Noticed the metallic sheen
or purplish around the neck
of the male Brewer's Blackbird.
Also several days ago I noticed
the richlyneck of the Am Coot
in contrast to its more dusky
body. Have also noticed the white
feathers in the short tail of this
Bix.
I have not seen the California
Towhee in this vicinity since
I have been down here. My
friend Mr. Louis W. Brossaw of
Salinas informed me that this
