June 6, 1909.
A friend in Stege, Contra Costa County, has
Two ducks and a drake of this species. The
drake does not appear to be changing in plumage
yet, all three are more or less worn.
November 21, 1909.
My friend has one duck and one drake
now; the duck was getting into fresh winter
plumage and her primaries were just ap-
pearing. The drake was in the eclipse
plumage, although a few vermiculated
flank feathers were appearing; he had
new primaries fully grown.
March 4, 1911.
Obtained two pairs from Robison Bros. All in
high plumage, although very dirty and cage-worn.
One drake had several old eclipse feathers in his
flanks; otherwise he was in high plumage.

The Baikal Teal are all able to fly and are
getting on very well.
March 24, 1911.
The Baikal Teal are in fine shape now and call con-
siderably. The females have a very hoarse croaking quack,
