Alameda to south shore of Bay Farm Island and return, making many detours into side sloughs, Alameda Co., Calif. Grebe. One. Loon. One. Terns. Small terns were common. Gulls. One Larus philadelphia. Many large gulls: Larus argentatus, shot; Larus glaucescens, seen; Larus californicus, seen; Larus delawarensis, taken by Beck both to-day and on the 23rd. Squatarola helvetica. Quite a few on south shore of Bay Farm Island in company with some sandpipers, Ardea herodias. One or two. Aristonetta valisineria. Common. Fuligula marila. A few. Mostly drakes. affinis. Caught crippled female. Chlangula clangula. Common. Mostly drakes. Erismatura jamaicensis. One. Scoters. Several. Some in sloughs. Phalacrocorax auritus. Very common. A flock of about 100 in San Leandro Bay in morning. Fly high. Some with white breasts.
