Anser albifrons. January 30, 1909. To-day I received an adult of this species, with white face and black mottled belly. January 3, 1909. I have received another adult (?) of this species, with white face, but very slightly mottled belly. It appears to me immature, as the white of the face is not as extensive and is slightly mottled with black feathers. January 21, 1909. A few days ago I obtained a third specimen of this species, similar to the first, and apparently a full adult. March 13, 1909. Of the six birds of this species which I have there is a great variation in the amount of black on the belly, some having a great deal, and one only one or two spots, March 18, 1909. The chucking notes uttered by this species are in a much higher pitch than those uttered by the Snow Geese and Ross's Geese.
