Alameda to and from San Francisco, bal. During the past three days the weather has been very changeable, raining at times, at other times clear. The temperature has been perhaps a little cool. One or two a couple of mornings, on the water. Larus californicus. Common on sand and mud flats near roundhouse at low tide. Noted also on bay. Larus glaucescens. Immature birds still fol- lowing ferry steamers. Considerable numbers on sheds and piles. Scarf Ducks. Common.
