Feb. 18, 1908.
Alameda to and from San Francisco, bal.
Beautiful weather for a week. Ducks, etc. the
same as usual along the angle. Gulls the same
on bay; a good many Larus came or Larus
brachyrynchus in front of Ferry Bldg. to-night
and last night. Last night, also, there were
two or three young Larus glancescens and one or
two young Larus californicus on the lower
deck of the Steamer. One last night, after
several attempts, cracked a peanut, and ate
the nut leaving the shell. One or two
loons and Phalacrocorax delophus seen on
bay.
Feb. 19, 1908.
Alameda to San Francisco, bal.
This morning noted a few ducks in Lake
Merritt, Scaup Ducks being remarked particularly;
also a few gulls on the mud.
Feb. 22, 1908.
Alameda to and from San Francisco, bal.
Conditions:- Moderate temperature; mostly overcast; no
winds light.
For the past day or two gulls, mostly adult Larus
californicus were very common on the exposed sand
near the roundhouse. Ducks, mostly Aristonetta val-
ieneria and Scaup Ducks are quite common, now feed-
ing close up to the railroad track and scarcely noticing
ducks the trains. A good many are still seen offshore.
