Feb. 8, 1908.
Alameda to and from San Francisco, bal.
Gulls and ducks were about the same as
usual, although a strong SE wind was blowing.
In the evening there did not seem to be as
many ducks along the mole as usual. The
following have been seen lately:- Odenia
deglandi, Odenia perspicillata, Scap ducks,
Aristonetta valisneria, blangula clangula.
Feb. 9, 1908.
Alameda to and from San Francisco, bal
conditions:- Early afternoon; cool; strong west wind.
Not as many ducks along the mole as usual.
Many flying about, chiefly in flocks; sea fairly
rough.
On the way over there were a good many
gulls on the water south of Goat Island. Larus
californicus and Larus glaucus as usual, fly-
ing much more sweepingly and gracefully than
is the general case when there is SE wind.
Last evening I saw several small land
birds proceeding eastward along the south side
of the mole, although there was a strong
southeast wind blowing.
