Alameda to and from San Francisco, Cal.
Conditions:- Overcast in mornings with mowind; in the
evening clear, westerly wind; moderate temperature.
Larus californicus was observed on the bay, while
along the mole nothing was seen the tide being high.
A few land birds were seen flying eastward over
the water close to it, however; this is observed
frequently. Near the roundhouse beach I saw
two or three Sturcella magna and a Falco
sparverius, the latter flying.

About noon when I went to the city, the
tide was very high and no birds were seen
along the mole, save a Sturcella magna near
the roundhouse. On the bay gulls were not
common until we got near the cruiser
"Maryland", where there were great numbers
on the water close to her. A flock of about
