185 Larus was seen two or three mornings ago flying along the mole over the water; and birds are common. Yesterday five ducks (sesters?) were seen flying southward on the bay. Two cormorants were seen going oceanward. Several terns have also been observed along the mole, diving, October 9, 1907. Alameda to and from San Francisco, Cal. Conditions:- Overcast in morning; westerly wind; moderate temperature. Gulls, apparently nearly all Larus californicus, have been abundant for the past three mornings on the beach exposed near the round- house. Oct. 11, 1907. Alameda to and from San Francisco, Cal. Conditions:- Moderate temperature; drizzling in morning, with SE wind; clear in afternoon. Both this morning and yesterday morning Larus californicus were abundant near the roundhouse. On the day this species was also seen, particularly near the warship
