Alameda to and from San Francisco, cal.
Conditions:- To-day, moderate temperature; westerly
wind; clear. During the two or three days pre-
ceding this, it has very warm with practically no
wind.
Larus californicus, very common, some few
following the steamers. For two or three days they
were very common in the morning at the
junction of the two currents, which occurred on
the San Francisco side. Near the roundhouse
a few have been noted on the water. This
evening, however, there was considerable mud
exposed, but no gulls on it, about 3:40 P.M.
Two near adult Larus heermanni were seen
among the California Gulls on the 3rd floor
the S.F. waterfront.
This morning yesterday morning there
were about 40 or 50 Symphonic pennul-
ata on the beach near the roundhouse; they would
fly as the train passed. Two or three Laimosa feda or
