Last evening were a good many gulls on the sand.
This evening I noted several on the bay, just
where the two currents meet; two or three were
flying and the remainder were on the water.
Sunday (July 28), in the afternoon at the foot
of Walnut Street, I saw two or three Hirundo
erythrogaster flying along the shore, but out a
short ways over the water. It was quite
windy and the tide was high.

Alameda to and from San Francisco, Cal.,
Conditions: Moderate temperature; W wind; clear in
afternoon.
In the morning the tide was pretty well in,
hence only one gull was seen in the light beside
the mole; it was sitting on the water. On the
narrow strip of sand were several large
shore birds - probably curlew.
On the bay an occasional Larus occidentalis and Larus heermanni were seen.
